Nonesuch Records, the label that’s putting out Björk’s monumental CD/vinyl/DVD box set ‘Voltaic’ in the U.S., just put out this trailer for the box-set, featuring some pretty jubilant footage of the singer’s tour, that’s all engineered to make you wish you were there or want to relive the experience, thus fronting some cash. Notice the LFO x Björk ‘Hyperballad’ mash-up halfway in. Awesome.
In addition, Pitchfork Media put out this above video of ‘Declare Independence’ live from Paris.
Also, NPR is streaming the entire Voltaic CD 1 – (From the Volta tour performed live at Olympic Studios) right here.
Finally, “Voltaic: The Volta Tour Live in Paris” will be screening at The Roxie which is one of only 16 theaters across the country that will screen Björk’s Paris-filmed concert film in full to amp up interest in her live album, “Voltaic,” to be released on Tuesday in various forms (DVD, CD and LP).
Midnight Friday and Saturday at The Roxie Theatre, 3117 16th St., San Francisco
I am super bummed I’m missing this…WHATEVER, I’ll buy it on Tuesday and watch it in my apartment with the volume up when I get back from NY. Screw my neighbors.
Good God oh mighty! For two nights only at the Roxy in San Francisco (and other venues), you can see and hear Björk’s “Voltaic: The Volta Tour Live in Paris” in glorious high definition video and audio! Can you tell I’m excited? This Björk fanboy has just pooed himself in delight!
For those that don’t know, “Voltaic: The Volta tour Live in Paris and Reykjavik” is a remarkable, multi-media document of Björk’s visually dazzling Volta tour. Full of on-your-feet moments, the film features highlights recorded in Paris and Reykjavik, with performances of songs from Volta as well as earlier tracks including Hunter, Joga, Army of Me, and Hyperballad.
I was lucky enough to see the beginning of this tour with my little brother (his first concert) at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. It’s great to see that this tour is getting the attention it deserves being that it fully embodies what Björk is all about; emotional, colorful, and uncompromised art.
You can pre-order Voltaic in it’s many forms hereor wait until the 23rd of June to pick it up at your nearest record store.
V for Voltaicthat is. It’s been a while since my favorite artist released anything that made me Eek with joy. Although I can safely say that this announcement made me do just that. Björkwill be releasing Voltaic, the celebration of Volta and the Volta live show. Now Volta was not my favorite Björk album, but it had it’s shining moments (Wanderlust). But like my 10 year old brother said when he heard the studio version of Declare Independence, “I like it way better live.” Agreed. The Volta live shows where epic in execution and made the songs from Volta sound much much better than their laptop produced counterparts. Now no release date is confirmed (around March they say) but there will be a standard version, deluxe, and vinyl deluxe versions. It’s safe to say if you’re at all interested in this you’re going to go the full deluxe route like me.
DISC ONE (AUDIO) Songs From The Volta Tour Performed Live At Olympic Studios – This will probably be played on my stereo way more than the original disc. DISC TWO (DVD) The Volta Tour Live In Paris, Live in Reykjavik – Lush and colorful costumes, lights and fireworks galore. This may be better or on par with her Live in Cambridge DVD. DISC THREE (DVD) The Volta Videos and the video competition – I’m guessing the Volta Videos are those “Making Of…” youtube videos she released before the record dropped. The music videos are nothing special. The Wanderlust (can you tell I like this song?) video was the only shining star to emerge video-wise. DISC FOUR (CD) The Volta Mixes – YES! The remixes from Volta are wilder and way more exciting than the originals.
