I showed this video to a friend at work and he said (and I quote), “…well that wasn’t weird or anything.”
I love this band.

The video represents Greycoats‘ emotional and dreamy sound very well. The song itself has been featured on Gossip Girl and is on their latest album, Watchman, What Is Left Of The Night?

For those of you who have already heard the leaked version of dredg’s fourth album, The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion, consider yourself lucky. The album itself is a monumental achievement for the well respected Los Gatos, CA band. This is the German single off their new album and is already blowing people’s minds.

You can pre-order The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion here.

Enjoy.

VIDEO UPPERCUT!

Friday, May 1st, 2009

You’ve probably noticed that I am totally gay for spazz-rockers The Mae Shi. So you can imagine my childlike glee when I found out about this video from SXSW of the song Run To Your Grave featuring Slow Club and Kid Static. Many thanks to the Brooklyn based music blog Hooves on the Turf.

This Deco Dawson video for Metric’s Help I’m Alive is kind of like a bubbly version of Luis Buñuel’s Un chien andalo. Which makes for a pretty interesting watch…

A sweet video from a sweet band (Carina Round) playing a sweet (yet sad) song.

“Amber Gris” Music Video from Medeski Martin and Wood on Vimeo.

Shot with a super 16mm film camera, Medeski Martin & Wood’s first single off of Radiolarians II, Amber Gris gets a gritty and well edited translation.

Panda Bear – Take Pills

Directed by Gang Gang Dance’s Brian Degraw. from the album “Person Pitch” on Paw Tracks Records. It’s new…I guess. Well the song isn’t but the video is. Typical psychedelic Panda Bear.

Panda Bear Kuestionnaire.

Delphic – Counterpoint

This is a promo video for Delphic’s debut single, “Counterpoint“, which will be released Monday 13th April 2009 on 12″ and download through R&S. It seems very…err….Euro. Or like a Calvin Klein commercial turned into a movie.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Zero

Okay I get it Karen O; you are a badass. What I do like about this video is that it represents the record well. They have evolved past a genre that is kind of milked dry of creative energy and have let loose a bit. It’s time to be positive and dance like a freak. Or whatever. Oh and here’s YYY’s remixed version of Zero from the every so awesome MSTRKRFT. Enjoy.

Middle Distance Runner – The Unbeliever

The Safes – The Sky Is Falling

Was that last video not weird enough for you? Well I give you The Safes’ bizarro video for The Sky Is Falling off their latest Sight of All Light EP.

Kuestionnaire: …music video?

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Every electronic act these days say they are influenced by Björk, Radiohead, and the Flaming Lips, but few really seem to build upon that influence and really create something special. However, Tucson’s own …music video? (aka Paul Jenkins and Wes McCanse) has been pumping out infectious beats since 2003 and it’s a bit of a surprise that not many have taken notice to their playful genius. …music video?s 1st record, Fireproof Your TV, was a emotional and fun filled record that was perfect for a house party or just to relax with your headphones. His second release, Now That My TV Has Wings I’ll Never Be Lonely, does not stray away from that maniac sound that has been made increasingly famous with acts like MGMT and Cut Copy.

This week, Mr. Jenkins answers the Kuestionnaire and displays his unembellished love of indie pop.

1. Of all the bands/artists in your CD/record collection, which one is your most cherished?
I would say my DJ Shadow/Cut Chemist Product Placement cd, as its a ‘limited to 500 copies’ thing.

2. What have you been listening to lately?
Beach House, Grizzly Bear, Polmo Polpo, Tv on the Radio, Department of Eagles, Fleet Foxes, Atlas Sound/Deerhunter, Astrobrite, Beach Boys, Boards of Canada, Flying Lotus, Memory Cassette, Air France, M83, Banjo or Freakout. I love music!

3. What’s your favorite local band?
The Swim. & l Eye.

4. What was the last show you attended?
Sigur Ros, @ Marquee Theater in Phoenix

5. What was the greatest show you’ve ever been to?
Coachella 04.

6. What show are you looking forward to?
Not sure…possibly Girl Talk at the Rialto

7. What musician would you like to hang out/work with for a day?
God that’s hard! Brian Wilson would be fun i’m sure, or Panda Bear, or Grizzly Bear, or any number artists that are in love with that big sound.

8. What four albums you would bring to a deserted island?
According to my rateyourmusic page, Pet Sounds, Mount Eerie (by the Microphones), You Forgot it in People (broken social scene), and In the Aeroplane over the Sea (Neutral Milk Hotel). Whoa, how indie.

9. Would you call yourself a music geek?
Most definitely, though there are plenty of people who completely destroy me in terms of their geekdom.

10. Any favorite music-related videos/DVDs you own?
I love the Radiohead one, Meeting People is Easy. And the Wilco one, I am trying to break your heart. And the Flaming Lips one is good too. But the Daniel Johnston one might be the best.

11. What’s the last book you read?
Dress your family in corduroy and denim by David Sedaris

12. Do you prefer live performances or recording in the studio?
Depends really. I enjoy both in very different ways.

13. Any embarrassing moments on stage you’d like to share?
I split the crotch of my pants one. Thankfully nobody noticed.

14. Any favorite tour locations?
I loved Prescott actually. The Raven Cafe was awesome.

15. Lastly, what have you done today?
I went to work, and watched tv after work. not much other than that.

Why In The World Haven’t You Heard The Notwist?

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Supporting infectious beats and whispering vocals…The Notwist’s “The Devil, You + Me” is one of my favorite albums of this year. And the video above supports that.
