Five years ago in November, string metal juggernauts Judgement Day released their first full-length record entitled Dark Opus. While many other acts have covered traditional metal songs with strings, Judgement Day went out on their own and created a paralyzingly haunting first album of original songs. When I first bought Dark Opus, I had seen them open for atmospheric rock band dredg and space rockers Telescreen out in Hartford, CT over a year ago. Their intense and unique stage presence forced me to purchase the album. Since then I have caught the band live over five times and listen to Dark Opus frequently. While the album is amazing, it does not do the band justice. Seeing them live is what Judgement Day is all about. That is why with their new record coming out early next year, the band has reported that they will not be playing Dark Opus songs anymore. So to celebrate the album that kick started a legend of fans all over the world and a foundation to build upon, Judgement Day will be playing the album in full without stops for the last time. Also, they will have music video projections for every song on the record while they play. This show is not only a must for fans of Judgement Day, but for fans of true musicianship and performance. Also for people who just want to rock-the-fuck-out!
To celebrate this event, we will be giving away two tickets to whoever best describes Judgement Day’s music. The rules are simple; email katarokkarblog [at] gmail] [dot] com with the subject “Judgement Day Tickets!”, then describe what Judgement Day’s music sounds like to you. The winner will receive 2 free tickets to the show on Thursday, November 19th with fellow string metal act Grayceon and La Fin Du Monde at Annie’s Social Club. Only ages 21+ can enter! Submissions are due by 11:59pm, November 16th.
