Uhh…okay? Tenacious D Replaces Beastie Boys For Outside Lands Headliner

6August2009

Tenacious D have announced that they will perform as Sunday, August 30th headliner at this year’s Outside Lands Festival, replacing Beastie Boys who canceled due to Adam “MCA” Yauch diagnosed with Parotid gland cancer.

So New Jersey’s All Points West gets Jay-Z and we get the D? I’m not sure how I feel about this just yet. There’s no doubt it will be fun, but as a replacement? My assumption is that they’ll find another performer to make it a double-bill. Because this will most definitely not increase ticket sales. I understand that this has been a hard year for Outside Lands and this is way last minute. But I can’t say I’m impressed. Maybe I need to listen to ‘Wonder Boy’ again…

Thoughts?

    so weak –

Tenacious D is cool, but I’m checking out Beastie’s replacements at other festivals and All Points West gets Jay-Z as you mentioned above and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are playing Lollapalooza in their place. What gives? Tenacious D? I mean, they’re fun, but how about a big name, like Phish or Tool or Flaming Lips?
