Does the animation in this video look familiar to you? It should. This is the work of Kata Rokkar web designer Scott Coello. Paired with the music of his band, Son of Robot, this is an epic story about a dog who farts and creates a new universe that follows with this kind of twisted evolution within it.
The whole thing is made entirely from recycled papers. Bank statements, bills, scraps found on the street, pointless spam mail, paper the graphic kids throw out, etc.
On my very first Caribbean cruise, I distinctly remember listening to Cursive’s 2006 release, Happy Hollow for the first time on the Lido Deck while getting some late night ice cream. This was kind of a bizarre experience being that I was actually enjoying what I was listening to and purposely taking my time retrieving the midnight treat in order to hear the whole album. It was especially appropriate being that the album is about the whole idea of blind faith and questioning religion and I was watching white trash stuff their faces with pepperoni pizza slices and 24oz cups of all inclusive Pepsi. I doubt I’ll have the exact same experience with their new record, Mama, I’m Swollen, which will be released on March 10th. According to the recent press release, Mama, I’m Swollen is “an album brimming with the universal, questioning the human condition, social morality, and the ‘Peter Pan Syndrome’ of grown men.” Well if the album is at all similar to the just released brilliantly melodic new song, From the Hips, I’m sure this will be another masterpiece from the respected rock band. Being the release is around my birthday and they will be singing about the “Peter Pan Syndrome of grown men,” I may actually have another enlightening moment like my cruise experience. I would bet on it…

If you haven’t already heard,Faith No More is getting back together for a glorious European summer tour. But will they play Coachella? Sasquatch? Who knows? All I know is that when and if they decide to swing by the Bay Area, I’ll be there. It all comes down to whether or not this summer tour goes over well. Faith No More’s last known performing line-up consisted of Patton, Bottom, drummer Mike Bordin, bassist Billy Gould and guitarist Jon Hudson. Although, guitar-soloist Jim Martin hasn’t been confirmed, but all us FNM fanboys would most likely cream our pants if we saw him up there on stage again. We can only hope…

My little brother turns the ripe old age of 12 today. So be sure to wish him a Happy Birthday in comments section. From what he’s told me, his presents consist of some video editing software for whatever crazy movies he’ll be making, an Xbox game, a Beastie Boys t-shirt, and an Ipod Touch. I can’t quite tell you what I got him because it’s currently in the mail (I know he’s reading this) but it ought to help him out in his filmmaker career that I’m sure he’s pursuing.
Well here’s a few songs for his new Ipod. Happy Birthday Cully!
Comedian Bob Marley – Fat, Dumb and Happy Birthday
A.R. Rahman – Jai Ho
Justice vs Beastie Boys – Intergalactic Waters of Nazareth
Cut Copy – Out There On The Ice
N.A.S.A. – Whachadoin?
The Very Best (Esau Mwamwaya & Radioclit) – Birthday

Crooked, uneven, broken, ass-backwards and sideways. (link)
The New Orleans’ freak pop duo aptly named Caddywhompus(which consists of guitarist Chris Rehm and Drummer Sean Hart) is probably what you’d imagine them to sound like. Their debut EP, Caddywhompus EP, is a short yet energetic burst that is over before you know it. At worst, it provides an opportunity to simply rock-the-fuck-out; at its best it’s beautiful, chaotic, and energetic all at the same time. For me, the EP’s shining moment is with the song Absinthesizer, a short up-tempo number that’s as quick as it is straight forward. The whole EP is a blast and is free to download right here. Also keep an eye out for the She EPwhich should be available the 16th of March. And be sure to catch Caddywhompuson tour next month and at this year’s SXSW.
